British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has instructed civil servants to make plans to end UK's reliance on China for vital medical supplies and other strategic imports in light of the coronavirus outbreak, The Times newspaper reported on Friday.

据英国《泰晤士报》周五报道，英国首相鲍里斯·约翰逊已指示工作人员制定计划，以结束英国在重要医疗物资和其他战略进口方面对中国的依赖。

This pandemic has taught every country some of the risks of uncontrolled globalization which wasn't paid closer attention to earlier. Although globalization won't slowdown because global trade is the lifeline of world economy because countries can't produce everything on their own. But countries will adjust domestic supply of critical items even if that includes higher cost of production compared to cheaper imports. Self-reliance is different from protectionism that Trump promotes.
